Schott in the Dark Farms is a very special and unique place. Diane is a true teacher. She invests so much of herself into truly teaching and growing her students. Students who yearn to work hard and truly want to become horsemen thrive here. Whether her student is 2 or 62, she has a way of communicating, engaging, and educating each of her students. Not only is she incredibly adept at teaching, she has a gift of training horses. Whether training a young off-track Thoroughbred, a problem older horse, a talented green horse, or a seasoned show horse, each horse comes out every day happy to do their job. Horses develop and riders grow. Her mission is for the horse and rider to be successful. The horses thrive, the people grow, and Karl & Diane open their arms and hearts to each barn member. Being at Schott in the Dark is being part of the family.

I have deep gratitude for Diane's commitment, support, and success of the Thoroughbred. I am so appreciative of Karl and Diane's support of the Neigh Savers Foundation program. Thank you Diane for this gift and opportunity for the horses, my children, and me.

Diane,
Thank you for making me feel so comfortable in the saddle again after I had my accident at another barn. I consider Schott in The Dark my home away from home. Thank you for teaching me so much in just a year! Words cannot describe everything you have done for me and how appreciative I am! :) Pix and I love you and the barn so much!

Thanks Diane for working with Brinn! I can't even believe the progress she has made in less than 6 months at Schott in the Dark. Brinn can't be there enough! It has been amazing to watch her transform into the rider she is now and I know everyday she is getting better and better. Thank you so much!

Dear Diane,

I've finally found you--the perfect teacher with horses to match! I've worked with other good instructors over the years but they were never able to reach me quite like you have. Your horses are so well cared for and also skilled at their job with a friendly, curious and willing attitude. So far I've taken only a handful of lessons and already I feel so much more capable and confident.
Each hour has been new and interesting with a variety of skills to learn and practice and new challenges to take on. It?s fun to watch you with other people, as well, and it amazes me how you manage to keep track of everyone at the same time and pay equal attention to the needs of each rider and horse. Also, as my own riding skills improve with every lesson, my relationship with my own young horse is improving and he is feeling more and more confident with me at the wheel. So I want to say thank you for all your wonderful help and I look forward to the many lessons to come.

Thanks for saying this. I appreciate it. It's so great for me because I'd been discouraged by lessons. Either I couldn't understand what they were trying to teach me or the horse was too old and tired for me to feel good about bouncing up and down on him.
So I've found the perfect teacher! With wonderful horses.
Will definitely do the facebook thing--thanks for reminding me. The other day someone was pointing out to me that the horses here aren't on the webpage. Even though they aren't part of the non-profit I think people would like to meet them. People love horses.
See you monday
Mollie

Diane,
Thank you doesn't even cover how much I have appreciated riding with you the past year and a half. I have learned so much from you and loved every minute of being at the barn. You are such and amazing teacher and I thank you for your patience! If you would have told me a year and a half ago I would be jumping horses, I would have said you were crazy! Now that I am out at the ranch, I recognize so much more in my riding and being one with the horse. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!! I will never find a better barn!

Diane,

You would have been very proud of your students. In spite of what would appear to be many unrealistic goals, we all fared rather well, and had an amazing journey. The country was beautiful, and the horses magnificent. I have attached some pictures to give you a sense of our journey. We lived as ?gouchos? indeed. Roaming the land for 5 days, ranch to ranch, rounded up cattle, dressed and ate as gauchos, really amazing. All survived, albeit one of us still recovering from a severe flu (John). Marc was pretty good in spite of many doubters.

This was a challenging experience and cantering through the wild was hard on our bodies. We would not have been able to do it without your guidance!

Thanks so much. I'll post them online shortly and send you the link.

Thank you so much Diane!!!!! What a gift you are to the horse world and anyone who is fortunate to find you. Your abilities are amazing and the fact that you can teach anyone to ride and they not only love it but they are SAFE!!!!!!!! After spending three plus years at the premier show barns and well into six figures, I was horrified to find out that not only was my child in danger but never really learned how to ride. The horse worlds dirty little secret is the better the sales person the more danger your in. People believe that if you spend a lot of money on a horse you are safe (Christopher Reeves case in point and a great loss).
My daughters dear friends parents were the same and needless to say this child was seriously injured and now is terrified to get on a horse. Which is a shame, because she loves horses. I trust that more people will find their way to you and you can change there lives the way you have for us over the past seven years.

My Dear Diane,
Just to thank you for being not a trainer to Anais and Ariel; but a true Coach for serious athletes. You have helped them become true horsemen and help them to achieve their riding dreams. Anais, although had to decline going to the Pony Championships was so thrilled to get there, and Ariel getting into the EAP program has been an exciting experience for him that hopefully will go to the next phase. I hope other serious open minded riders will find their way to the "Little Pink Barn" aka the HB barn! It's not fancy but the instruction is elite level with love and compassion to boot and the horses are so happy. Thanks for being my friend and I plan on many more adventures together on many a continent with bands on our wrists.
